When the Timing Is Not Accidental
This week alone, I have had multiple conversations across generations about the state and condition of the Church.
Not surface conversations. Deep ones.
Conversations about leadership, theology, error, exposure, and disappointment.
What struck me most was not just what was said, but how many people are quietly wrestling. There is a weight many are carrying that is not always spoken out loud.
To me, it is an indicator of the timing of The Purpose Series.
There are so many with titles now. Titles that have grown larger than their original intent. Titles that were meant to signify function have, in many cases, become platforms of identity, influence, and authority without accountability.
In recent years, there have also been levels of exposure that have been heartbreaking and, for some, deeply unsettling. What was once trusted has been questioned. What was once admired has been dismantled.
For many, this has brought confusion, disappointment, and a lack of trust. For others, it has shaken foundations, pressed their faith, and introduced a quiet sense of hopelessness.
The teacher in me feels this deeply.
There is something in me that wants to remind you not to lose hope and not to stop trusting God because people have misrepresented Him.
God is not shaken by exposure. But we must be careful not to allow the exposure of error to lead to the erosion of our faith.
This is why it is essential that truth be established and reestablished through the Word of God. Not personality, not preference, and not popularity. The Word must remain our foundation.
If things feel unclear right now, it is not because truth has disappeared. It is because mixture has become common, and when mixture becomes common, clarity can feel distant.
But clarity is not absent in Scripture.
I believe The Purpose Series will help bring light and gently realign our understanding of the responsibility of the Body of Christ and the leadership given to it. We will study Ephesians 4 not just as a concept, but as a blueprint. We will examine function before title, purpose before platform, and maturity before influence.
Before addressing what is wrong, we must first reestablish what is right. Foundations must be laid and examined.
I am genuinely looking forward to beginning this teaching on Sunday on YouTube at 7pm and walking through this with you each week here on Substack on Thursdays. This is not about observing from a distance, but about engaging as students of the Word.
If you are looking for something honest, grounded, and spiritually steady, you are in the right place.
The waters may feel unclear, but clarity is coming.
Take time to sit with the Word, examine the foundation, and lean in.
He is still speaking.
And I am writing and listening.
